TRO 10/12/2014

Reduction of speed limit on Mosborough Parkway from 60 to 50.  Although this will not affect cyclists measurably, as the Mosborough Parkway, whilst legally available to cyclists, is not a cycle-friendly road and has the alternative of a National Cycle Network route running alongside it, the CTC SUPPORTS this proposal in the interests of general Road Safety and better Air Quality

Also TRO's relating to Bridgehouses and Woodhouse which have been referred to the CycleSheffield Exec for study.

Next 20mph areas

Traffic Regulation Orders have been issued for the next two 20mph areas in Sheffield which are the London Rd area and Hackenthorpe.

Also in the mail today:-

TRO's for the Penistone Rd scheme  - increased "No waiting" areas.

I propose to support these.

Bridgehouses

A scheme to improve bus journey times -  See plan here.

Doesn't seem to make anything much worse for cyclists, no improvements either. Two-way roads tend to be more cycle-friendly than one-way.

"Better Buses" TRO's

Chesterfield Road and London Road - Experimental Traffic Regulation Order

This one has some measures to speed up buses along Chesterfield & London Rds.

By experimentally allowing parking in the against-the-flow bus lanes on some sections.cyclists will lose the protection that the bus lane provides with no alternative provision.

There has been a long-standing agreement at the City Cycle Forum that bus lanes will not be removed in Sheffield without alternative provision being made for cyclists. This proposal violates that agreement so we will be
objecting to it.

GLEADLESS KEY BUS ROUTES

The parking on Richards Rd creates the potential for cyclists being doored
Can the footway be made segregated/shared use?

We are very concerned about the pinch points on Blackstock Rd created by the pedestrian island and suggest that a zebra crossing would be more appropriate.
